Context: I was part of the outstanding Augmented Humans International Conference (AHs) committee. While we planned to run a physical conference in Kaiserslautern, Germany, we decided to run the conference virtually due to concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19.
This required to readjust the logistics, for both the conference organizers and attendees. I personally was glad that we did not cancel the conference and took the chance to run a conference virtually, thus providing insights into the benefits and pitfalls that have to be considered when running a conference this way. We were glad by the sparkling discussions even when the presenters were not physically available.
The keynote was given by Stelarc who fundamentally inspired the AHs community. You can find the recorded keynote here. We were also glad greet the other keynote speakers Kasper Hornbæk and Enkelejda Kasneci who were talking about current challenges for body-related interaction and eye tracking applications.
Overall, we were happy about the overwhelmed participation and the positive feedback we have received by the conference participants. By the way, the next AHs conference (AHs2021) will take place in Rovaniemi, Finland, hosted by Jonna Häkkilä. I’m looking forward to see many of you next year in Rovaniemi :).
